Genital Warts HPV Lesion and LocationLesion and Location Lesions may be solitary but usually appear in small groups of 5 to 10 lesions. Most lesions vary between 1 and 10 mm in diameter. Warts may coalesce into large plaques especially in the anogenital area. They occur in greater numbers and size in immunosuppressed patients. Warts are found in uncircumcised men on the glans penis, coronal sulcus, and inner aspect of the foreskin. They occur on the shaft of the penis in circumcised men. Warts are also found on the scrotum, groin, perineum, and anal area. In females, lesions affect the, labia minora, labia majora, clitoris, urethral meatus, perineum, anal region, introitus, vagina, and ectocervix. The urethral meatus is affected in 20 to 25% of males and 4 to 8% of females. Intra-anal warts are most common when receptive anal intercourse is practiced. Lesions are pink on non-keratinised surfaces and grey to brown on keratinized skin. |
