Vascular Stains

Vascular stains are extremely common lesions that represent superficial dilated blood vessels. They are considered transient lesions, although in some people they are permanent. The euphemism 揳ngle kisses?refers to upper eyelid and glabellar vascular stains and 搒tork bites?refer to vascular stains on the nape. Vascular stains in the lumbosacral region can persist as well. No treatment is necessary and parents should be reassured.

This child has a vascular stain of the glabella and the upper eyelid. These lesions should not be confused with Surge-Weber syndrome where the lesions consist of capillary malformations and not vascular stains.
