Benign lesions are seen everyday by all providers. Patients are particularly concerned about the appearance of seborrheic keratosis. These ubiquitous lesions have many of the characteristics of malignant melanoma. They very in color and have irregular borders. Inflamed seborrheic keratosis are of concern. This rapidly evolving change suggests malignancy to the apprehensive patient. The ability to accurately interpreted different common benign growths is a skill that all providers should strive to acquire.
