An area of redness with a well-defined border expands over several days. The size of the ring varies and may be 10 cm or larger.
It is very common to see a different pattern. Many patients present with several large, flat, red, round areas primarily localized to trunk and buttocks. This is a highly distinctive presentation and is essentially diagnostic of Lyme disease.

Multiple large red circles is a highly characteristic finding for many cases of lyme disease. The classic bulls-eye lesion may not occur in these patients.
