Most cases are diagnosed by the typical clinical presentation. A Burow or vesicle can be scraped and analyzed with a low power microscope ocular.


The mite burrows through the scaly upper layer of the skin to form an irregular tract called a burrow

Look for mites, eggs and feces. A biopsy may demonstrate the mite.


Scrapping a burrow and analyzing the acquired material under the microscope may reveal mites, eggs and feces.
