Skin Cancer Melanoma Follow up examination
Follow-up examination should be performed at regular intervals as shown in the Table and include:
Visual inspection and palpation of the excision site and surrounding skin
Visual examination of the entire cutaneous surface
Palpation of regional and distant lymph; nodes
Palpation of the liver
Baseline chest x-ray and baseline CT scan of head, chest, and abdomen
Liver function tests are rarely revealing but are often obtained at baseline.
First degree relatives should also be offered full skin examination for screening purposes.
