    A significant number of squamous cell carcinoma tumors of the penis and vulva are related to human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. Certain types of the HPV virus, especially type 16 and 18, predispose the individual to develop invasive disease. Thus, special attention should be paid to warts in these regions and for warts that do recur or do not resolve with standard treatments.
