Treatment of Vascular Malformations
The vast majority of capillary malformations respond well to pulsed dye laser therapy, especially if performed before 1 year of age.
Venous and lymphatic malformations are treated with percutaneous sclerotherapy coupled with surgery. Compression is helpful as an adjunctive measure.
Arteriovenous malformations are treated with embolization coupled with surgical excision.
Patients with complicated vascular malformations requiring, sclerotherapy, embolization or surgery are treated at specialty multidisciplinary clinics.
